Police identify alleged gunman in Brampton homicide

UPDATE: At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, homicide investigators confirmed that they have identified the victim of Wednesday’s fatal shooting in Brampton as Jasvir Singh, a 35-year-old South Asian man of Indian origin.

Police in Brampton, Ont., are asking the public for help in finding the alleged gunman who shot dead a man in a residential neighbourhood on Wednesday evening.

Investigators discovered the body of Jasvir Singh, 35, in a residence on Tadah Drive near Purdy Street in Brampton. Singh was last seen on Old Barton Road at around 7:45 p.m. last night and officers were unable to establish contact with him, police said in a press release. They believe he may have been targeted.

Police have since identified the alleged gunman as Jasvir Singh Bhargava, 47, of Surrey, B.C.
